Kristen and Dan’s Dunes West Wedding

January 7, 2014/in weddings/by admin

Dunes West Golf Club was the beautiful setting for Kristen and Dan’s September Wedding.  Ashley Russell at Ashley Nicole Events did a wonderful job creating a elegant, traditional, southern wedding.  Jade Water Designs provided beautiful bouquets of purple and grey to match the brides clean and elegant color palette.  The bride and the groom had a very sweet moment before the ceremony where Dan was blindfolded, but still got to say a few words to his sweet bride.

Katie and Damon’s Citadel Wedding

December 26, 2013/in weddings/by admin

High school sweethearts Katie and Damon wanted a simple, yet formal southern wedding.   The groom is a graduate of the Citadel and so the bride incorporated many military traditions into their wedding, including a sword arch following the ceremony and the cut the wedding cake with a military saber.  Beth at Wildflowers, Inc created beautiful arrangements to match Katie’s colors of purple, silver and orange.  The ceremony was held at Summerall Chapel, with the reception at the Citadel Alumni Center.  The brides dress was from New York Bride and Groom and Ashley Bakery prepared a beautiful cake for the occasion.

Chris and Ashley’s Charming Wedding

December 12, 2013/in weddings/by admin

Ashley and Chris have a very interesting love story.  Both lived in Germany about twenty minutes apart and never actually met in person, Ashley was even friends with Chris’ sister before finally meeting in person by their families.  They chose Charleston because they wanted their guests to feel how they feel about the city and see its elegant, southern charm.  From bow ties and seersucker to Spanish moss and magnolias, Chris and Ashley love this southern city!

Kelly and Justin knew they wanted their guests to experience Charleston the way they did the first time they came to visit.  With most guests coming from out of town, they choose Magnolia Plantation and Garden to show off Charleston’s southern charm.  Beyond Expectations provided a delicious menu, while DeClare Cakes made a beautiful green and brown stripped cake.  Kelly and Justin enjoyed the low key day with family and friends while dancing into the night with Eklipse Productions.

Kat and Tyler’s Dream Wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

December 4, 2013/in weddings/by admin

(From the Bride)  Katina and Tyler moved to Charleston from Massachusetts a year ago and fell in love with the Lowcountry. With Kat’s family in NJ and Tyler’s in Chicago, they knew they wanted to host a destination wedding in Kat and Ty’s new home, and found the perfect venue at Magnolia Plantation. The Carriage House set the tone with its rustic, romantic gardens and natural, relaxed vibe. Kat set about designing a wedding that featured all the Southern charm that Charleston could offer their Northern guests: bridesmaid dresses by LulaKate, groomsmen shirts by Half Moon Outfitters, and the coffee table book Charleston Then and Now as their guest book, for guests to add their names to Charleston’s history. Sweet tea and lemonade in mason jars greeted guests upon arrival. To help keep cool in the July heat, large patio umbrellas shaded the ceremony seats, and wooden fans were offered as favors. Debi Brickell at First Bloom used a romantic palette of soft blush, coral, yellow, and green flowers to enhance Magnolia’s summer beauty with loose, garden-style arrangements in bowls, bottles, and lanterns. As a unity ritual during the ceremony, Kat and Tyler incorporated traditional Greek crowns (honoring Kat’s heritage) joined by a ribbon that are exchanged on the couple’s heads three times; for the crowns they used sweetgrass wreaths custom-made by a local craftswoman. For the reception, Duvall set up a tasty catering menu featuring fried green tomato hors d’oevres, chilled melon soup with salad, and boursin cheese grits served alongside filet mignon and grouper. For dessert, Kat and Tyler did not want a traditional wedding cake, so they worked with Michelle Diminich at Dolce to design a dessert table with a selection of treats including hummingbird cakes, something the bride and groom had never seen up North. Overall, their wedding represented everything Katina and Tyler came to love about Charleston: its natural beauty, great food, and charming mix of history and romance.
