The two wanted to incorporate the traditional military wedding with a laid back beach feel for the reception. They also wanted to incorporate Charleston culture into the reception because they knew it would be a destination type wedding since all of their families are scattered across the US. As a fun touch Mary and Gene chose to go with Shag dancing and lessons, low country boil and pulled bbq pork, and a sword line at the end of the ceremony to keep with their Charleston/Military them! To top off the fun Cocky the Gamecock even made a surprise appearance complete with dancing!
