Jesalyn & Rich’s Gorgeous Spring Flowers Engagement Shoot

Jesalyn & Rich are getting married in a few weeks! So glad they wanted to do their engagement shoot at Boone Hall Plantation! The flower field at the front of the Plantation had just bloomed and looked absolutely gorgeous! Very excited to be a part of their wedding soon!

Leslie & Ed’s all over the lowcountry shoot!

Leslie & Ed are such a sweet couple to spend time with. They LOVE each other. The way the talk about it each, look at each other, it truly shows. When then came in for their consult, Ed brought tears to my eyes talking about Leslie. I can not wait to see them say their vows, it will be a beautiful day!

Stephanie and Jeremy’s Summerall Chapel Ceremony & Francis Marion Hotel Reception

Stephanie & Jeremy wanted their wedding to be a celebration of their new life together with their family and friends. It was an absolutely gorgeous day in Charleston. Summerall was beautifully illuminated in a shade of purple be the sun shining through the stained glass windows, which was amazing since the wedding colors included purple. I wonder if Stephanie planned it that way 🙂 And OMG, CHECK OUT THEIR CAKE!

Michelle & Justin’s Tidewater Chapel Wedding and Lookout Pavilion Reception

Michelle is absolutely adorable! Her and Justin have been together since high school. Since it has been a long time in coming they really just wanted their special day to be a time to spend with each other and their family members. They had personalized Jones Sodas, which were absolutely awesome! Love, love, love it!

Alicia & Steven’s Old Wide Awake Plantation Fall Inspired Wedding

I love Old Wide Awake Plantation in Hollywood, the house, the grounds, the trees, the pond and fountain, all great features!  Alicia spent a lot of time working on wedding details from the center pieces to the signs, with acorns everywhere. It was a gorgeous fall day and their details represented it! Instead of your typical sand ceremony, Alicia and Steven did an Acorn Ceremony, mixing together acorns from his home town and her home town.  The cake was gorgeous with a basket weave icing and flowers on top. And since Steven works in the food industry, I knew the food would be awesome… and IT WAS! It was the first time I have ever seen a Grilled Cheese Station!  Even the moon looked amazing, as the sun went down. Truly a great day, for a sweet couple!

Megan & Cisco’s Ceremony and Reception at The Island House

I met with Megan in November 2011 to talk with her about her wedding. And like most of my clients, we clicked. When we met and did their Engagement shoot at Magnolia Plantation earlier this year, it was my first time meeting Cisco. I promised not to make him do anything cheesy, which I think made him feel better about it! Megan’s bridal portrait session almost was rained out, but thankfully the weather cleared up and the sky looked beautiful at Boone Hall. So when their wedding day came, we had already spent a lot of time together which made it feel more like I was fortunate enough to be shooting a dear friend’s wedding. The flowers at The Island House were all in bloom and butterflies were flying around everywhere! Everyone had a fabulous time singing karaoke at the reception! The sunset set at The Island House is always amazing and this night was no exception! Congratulations Megan & Cisco, you guys rock!

Ellen & Ryan’s Dunes West Ceremony & Reception

I sincerely cannot say enough about how everything about this wedding was perfect! The night before the wedding I photographed the rehearsal dinner at Cottage on the Creek. It was really great to meet all of Ellen and Ryan’s friends and family. Everyone was very kind and I enjoyed spending the evening with them, especially on such a gorgeous night. The next day the weather was just as amazing! Ellen and Ryan chose to have their ceremony under the other large tree by the water (which was the first time I have seen it set up there, and I loved it). Hanging in the center of the aisle, from the tree was a beautiful chandelier. The sun shining through the moss during the ceremony made the setting even more fantastic. Ryan’s family is the name sake for the Wynkoop Beer Company, so there was plenty on hand, as well as the story for everyone to read. The only place suited for their night shot had to be back at the ceremony site, and I think it was a great ending to their picture perfect day!

Beth & Jeff’s Wild Dunes Ceremony & Reception

Beth & Jeff had one of the easiest going weddings of the year. Everyone was relaxed and just enjoying everything about the day. The ceremony was at the Grand Pavilion with the reception by the pool. My favorite time was spent with them on the beach. The sky was amazing and we got really lucky with the weather and timing! Congratulations guys!

Scott & Lorilee’s Alhambra Hall Ceremony & Reception

Scott & Lorilee put a lot of planning into their special day! There were lots of gorgeous details and beautiful flowers! Before entering the ceremony they played a video by Film Anywhere.  It was wonderful to hear their story and see them interacting together on the beach, hanging out and even working out. Cupcake provided lots of flavors of cupcake goodness! And I love the shots of the two of them after the ceremony under the tree and their night shot with the bridge lit up! It was great getting to know this awesome couple!

For better or worse, in sickness and in Health… Chad & Holly’s Incredible Wedding day!

When I met with Chad and Holly about photographing their wedding, I would have never thought things would turn out the way they did! Their engagement session was lots of fun. Holly’s bridal portrait session was on Wednesday, just 2 days before the wedding. (View Holly’s Bridal Portraits: https://richbell.com/hollys-bridal-portraits/) We spoke about plans for the wedding, specifics about the timeline and other plans for the day. Then on Friday, I got a call from Holly’s mom, Neva. I knew immediately by the tone of her voice something very serious was wrong. She told me Chad was in a serious car accident early that morning, in which he flipped his car 4 times! He has a fractured his L1 vertabrae,  so he couldn’t stand or even sit up. Somehow they convinced the hospital to transport Chad to the Francis Marion Hotel, so he and Holly could get married.  The ceremony was Chad’s hotel suite surrounded by their parents, the wedding party, a videographer, Mell Bell and myself, with Melanie Epps Murray performing the ceremony. Chad and Holly then spend some time together, while the wedding party walked in to the processional. Guests sat waiting for the ceremony to start, some of them not knowing anything about the accident. The Officiant then told everyone the news and the video was played. There were many tears shed watching the video of Chad and Holly say their I Do’s just minutes before upstairs.  Permanent Vacation played Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” as the wedding party and all Virginia Tech Grads ran with Holly (just like when the football team takes the field)! Holly was surrounded by family and friends showing their love and support, while others went upstairs to see Chad. Holly was so strong through the night. She was overwhelmed about cutting the cake without Chad.  So her sister wiped her tears and the brides maids joined her to cut the cake and feed Holly her bite of cake. Everyone danced and had a fabulous time, watching Holly and her bridesmaids join the band onstage. What a night…  Chad and Holly truly showed what it means when you say the vows, for better or worse, in sickness and in health… Congratulations Holly Ryffel and Chad Dennis, your love is beautiful!
