Mindy and Ben

Mindy and Ben had a clear idea of how they envisioned their day: pottery barn style decor, romantic and intimate setting and their dogs! With Duvall running the catering, rentals, flowers, cake and design it was mission accomplished! When Mindy and Ben met in grad school their love blossomed through their similar love for wine, vacationing and dogs. In fact Ben proposed by bringing the dogs to Mindy’s out of state parents home and attaching the ring to the collar of one of their pups! Their day had a casual, classy feel that was evident through the beautiful blush tones, burlap accents and southern charm.brock-0206 brock-0214 brock-0227 brock-0230 brock-0240 brock-0256 brock-0265 brock-0272 brock-0276 brock-0289 brock-0324 brock-0498

Deanna and Tim

This sweet couple chose the perfect time of the year to have their outdoor, Magnolia Plantation wedding! After a 5 year long friendship Deanna and Tim fell in love and their life has been a whirlwind ever since.  They wanted their day to be a stress-free affair that they could look back on with fond memories. Duvall Catering and Event Design made sure the day was coordinated to go off without a hitch- they took care of everything from the flowers, to the food and cake, to the rentals! With Charleston Event Hair and Makeup there first thing in the morning, Deanna was ready to take some gorgeous pictures in her dress. We were able to spend time with the couple before the ceremony, as well as after, capturing moments of their love. With all of the azalea flowers in full bloom, the day was filled with special moments and created the perfect atmosphere for a picture perfect day!lloyd-0060 lloyd-0121 lloyd-0142 lloyd-0146 lloyd-0149 lloyd-0156 lloyd-0251 lloyd-0254 lloyd-0331 lloyd-0338 lloyd-0346 lloyd-0353 lloyd-0366 lloyd-0380 lloyd-0381 lloyd-0383 lloyd-0385 lloyd-0389 lloyd-0390

Kat and Tyler’s Dream Wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

(From the Bride)  Katina and Tyler moved to Charleston from Massachusetts a year ago and fell in love with the Lowcountry. With Kat’s family in NJ and Tyler’s in Chicago, they knew they wanted to host a destination wedding in Kat and Ty’s new home, and found the perfect venue at Magnolia Plantation. The Carriage House set the tone with its rustic, romantic gardens and natural, relaxed vibe. Kat set about designing a wedding that featured all the Southern charm that Charleston could offer their Northern guests: bridesmaid dresses by LulaKate, groomsmen shirts by Half Moon Outfitters, and the coffee table book Charleston Then and Now as their guest book, for guests to add their names to Charleston’s history. Sweet tea and lemonade in mason jars greeted guests upon arrival. To help keep cool in the July heat, large patio umbrellas shaded the ceremony seats, and wooden fans were offered as favors. Debi Brickell at First Bloom used a romantic palette of soft blush, coral, yellow, and green flowers to enhance Magnolia’s summer beauty with loose, garden-style arrangements in bowls, bottles, and lanterns. As a unity ritual during the ceremony, Kat and Tyler incorporated traditional Greek crowns (honoring Kat’s heritage) joined by a ribbon that are exchanged on the couple’s heads three times; for the crowns they used sweetgrass wreaths custom-made by a local craftswoman. For the reception, Duvall set up a tasty catering menu featuring fried green tomato hors d’oevres, chilled melon soup with salad, and boursin cheese grits served alongside filet mignon and grouper. For dessert, Kat and Tyler did not want a traditional wedding cake, so they worked with Michelle Diminich at Dolce to design a dessert table with a selection of treats including hummingbird cakes, something the bride and groom had never seen up North. Overall, their wedding represented everything Katina and Tyler came to love about Charleston: its natural beauty, great food, and charming mix of history and romance.

Tina and Chris’s Southern Wedding

Natives of Pennsylvania, Tina and Chris wanted a classy wedding that made guests feel like they were in the deep south.  The colors they chose were champagne and ivory to go very nicely with the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Duvall Catering and Event Design helped bring this vision to life with lanterns, hydrangeas, white roses, and lots of candles.  After the ceremony, which was officiated by a friend of the couple, Duvall Catering provided a delicious menu of seafood, salad, mixed vegetables and fruit.

A Garden Party Wedding.

Katie and Chris had a stunning wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.  Duvall Catering and Event Design along with Branch Designs did a wonderful job pulling off a garden party meets backyard BBQ for this outdoor wedding.   The flowers that were used throughout the ceremony and reception were right out of a dream.  She used many colors including:  pink, orange, yellow, purple, and green.  Her shoes were even floral decorated!  Lauren at the Cake Stand created a round tiered cake with bright pink camellias that also showed off the brides bubbly personality.  The cake even featured two love birds on the top layer under the flowers. Katie’s ball gown styled dress came from Wedding Row, in Downtown Charleston.  Katie also wore her grandmother’s green cocktail ring which matched her teardrop earrings.  Other Brother Entertainment provided a live band for guests to party and dance to all night.  A white limo from ACW Limo Service awaited the bride and groom as they were sent off with sparklers.
