Sarah and Develen’s Engagement Portraits at The Battery and Lower King Street.

November 18, 2008/in Engagement/by admin

I love it when we get to photograph siblings of past weddings we did.  Develen is Rhonda Crawford’s brother.  Rhonda and Chris got married a year and a half ago.  Mell and I were actually both the photographers AND the Best Man and Matron of Honor (yeah, that’s crazy).  So now Develen and Sarah are getting married and it’s time for Engagement pictures!  We met them at White Point Gardens downtown for pictures at the battery and southern King Street.

I've been experimenting with shadows in portraiture over the last few months. I'm pleased with this one.

April & Justin’s engagement session, historic Charleston portrait session

November 18, 2008/in Engagement/by admin

After many months of planning and anticipation, April & Justin are getting married this weekend! They have been so much fun to photograph so far, and I can’t wait!

Taken in hisotric downtown Charleston, their engagement session was a lot of fun. I thought you might like to see a few fun pics of this happy couple!

1920’s-Themed wedding at Riviera Theater in Downtown Charleston

November 18, 2008/in weddings/by admin

Joe and Madalyn through a 1920s-themed wedding at the Riviera Theater, and people dressed all out for it! The Riviera has some of the most interesting architecture and floor design in Charleston. The wedding can be held right in the theater-style seating. The front curtain can then open right up into one of the best ballrooms in Charleston.  Click here to see their whole album.

The hats were a nice touch.

Madalyn changed into and awesome theme dress for the reception. Oh, and more light columns. I love those things.

West Ashley House, Catholic Church, Folly Beach, & Downtown Reception (whew!)

November 11, 2008/in weddings/by admin

Nicole and Michael packed it out at their wedding! Their wedding was at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, followed by pictures on the Beach, and then a trolley to the Harbour Club Downtown for the Reception!

Nicole was the most chill bride I've worked with in a while. All the ladies where getting ready at her house, champagne in hand, and feeling good.

Absolutely Charleston provided transportation for the wedding party that date. Their Trolleys add a great flavor to a wedding with multiple locations. Champagne kept flowing 🙂

Michael and his entourage were at Folly Beach early. Our new photographer Steve headed up their portraits.

The weather was so nice, that the tent was barely necessary, but the rooftop party with dinner downstairs was a blast. Steve took this picture from The Rooftop Bar at Vendue next door.

Lisa and Rodney’s wedding at the Inn at Middleton Place; Charleston, SC

October 30, 2008/in weddings/by admin

(post by Valerie Schooling)

Though I’ve been to the Inn at Middleton Place many times for receptions and rehearsal dinners, this was my first experience photographing a wedding ceremony on the grounds!

I’m sure you remember how terrible the weather was on Friday the 24th (record amounts of rain!) but Saturday was absolutely gorgeous! (Which was perfect for all of us because it was also my birthday!)

Lisa and Rodney’s wedding ceremony at the Inn at Middleton Place had the most amazing marsh view, all of the trees were covered in spanish moss, and the temperature outdoor was ideal!

Here are a few of my favorites from their day:

Tom and Angela’s Trash the Dress Session

October 27, 2008/in weddings/by admin

Tom and Angela had a simple destination wedding at the Gazebo on the Battery at White Point Gardens in Downtown Charleston, SC.  Eleven people total made it an easy and fun affair with little to-do, but a lot of great pictures and an album I’m very proud of.

Angela and Tom had their first glance at Stolles Alley off of East Bay Street, not far from Rainbow Row. It was a beautiful moment.

1) Secure your dress well (I'll leave it at that) 2) hang on tight to your ring (don't worry, they found it).

Right after the ceremony, (at Angela's Request) they went to Waterfront Park for pictures in the Fountain. Amazing pictures, but two pieces of advice: 1) Secure your dress well (I'll leave it at that) 2) hang on tight to your ring (don't worry, they found it).

They had their private 11-course dinner at McCrady's Restaurant, located on this alleyway off of East Bay.

Renee & Derek’s wedding at First Baptist Church & 28 Bridgeside

October 21, 2008/in weddings/by admin
(post by Valerie Schooling)
I am reminded daily (sometimes hourly) just how much I love my career…and Renee and Derek’s wedding was definitely one of my favorite weddings of the year!  I loved shooting their rehearsal dinner at the William-Aiken House on King Street, downtown Charleston.
The William-Aiken House is an abosolutely breathtaking location for any event, and I absolutely loved the lighting under the tent for Renee and Derek's rehearsal dinner!

Anthony & Sarah’s wedding at Holiday Inn, Folly Beach

October 21, 2008/in weddings/by admin

(post by Valerie Schooling)

It’s always a blessing to be a part of a friend’s wedding. I have known Sarah for about 5 years now (we have been friends since I lived in Johnson City, TN) and lucky me – she chose me to be her photographer! Anthony & Sarah are such a sweet couple and they had a very lovely beach wedding on Folly Beach with their reception at the Holiday Inn!

October 4, 2008

There’s always a special romance with beach weddings. Especially at sunset!

Sarah and Anthony’s wedding party was small and very fun!
(Also, I shot her maid of honor’s wedding almost 2 years ago. It was great to see Janelle & Austin at the wedding.)

The perfect leave for a perfect couple! Have fun in Jamaica!

Trixie and Scott’s Wedding at Cottage on the Creek, Mt. Pleasant, SC

September 16, 2008/in Uncategorized/by admin

Update: We have posted the full wedding album!  Click here to see!

You can tell a lot about people by how they handle stress and disappointment, and I can say that Trixie and Scott’s whole family is just top notch.  Their wedding was September 6th, which was the day that Hurricane Hanna was supposed to hit Charleston.  Their original ceremony and reception site, Seabrook Island, closed for storm preparations, and they had to completely pick up and move their entire event in 2 days.  Fortunately Cottage on the Creek, near Shem Creek, came through with flying colors.  Everyone, especially Trixie’s mom, Vicki, were so upbeat and happy and positive throughout the entire event, and it was a real encouragement to me.

The rehearsal dinner happend right in the middle of what was then Tropical Storm Hanna. It was very rainy. Trixie and Scott were good sports and went out for some pictures in the rain.

Shem Creek is wonderfully characteristic of Charleston. I love their ceremony site.

People, sparklers are just meant to be waved at a safe distance. Please do not throw the sparklers at the bride and groom. Common mistake.
