A Purple Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina Wedding

Alison and Aaron were married at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina on July 21, 2013.  The bride was joined with her son, Zaiden, at the alter.  Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina did a fantastic job of coordinating the event while Ooh Events & Shop Out Of Hand created beautiful flowers and decorations for the day.

a homemade, destination wedding.

Chicago couple Katy and Jeff were married in Bluffton, South Carolina at St. Gregory the Great  with a reception following at Belfair Plantation on May 18th.  The colors were coral and gold, and flowers provided by Old Bluffton Flowers were white garden roses with a few light pink roses added in.  Being extremely crafty, Katy did much of the wedding design herself.  The invitations and ceremony programs were all designed with her talent in graphic design.  The place cards which were boxes in the shapes of bride and grooms were also made my Katy.  The table numbers were shown with pictures of the bride and groom at the corresponding age. Another personal touch that was added to the wedding was the wedding cake which was made by the grooms aunt.  The “sweets” table also consisted of family cookie recipes from both sides.  While Hilton Head Entertainment provided the music, Katy and Jeff provided the flip flops so guests could “Save their souls and DANCE!” Guests came from out of town so it was important for Katy and Jeff to show off the south while everyone partied and enjoyed the weekend!

Lace & Burlap Wedding

Samantha and Max met at Coastal Carolina University and after three years of dating they couple decided to show off their southern roots with an outdoor wedding at Magnolia Plantation.  With local and out of state  guests, the couple used mason jars, lanterns, and lots of burlap and lace for an old Charleston feel.  While waiting for the ceremony to begin guests were able to sip on sweet tea and lemonade out of mason jars with blue chevron straws to add the final touch. The colors were sapphire blue with hints of yellow in the flowers and centerpieces.  Duvall Catering and Events continued the theme of old southern by providing Charleston cuisine including shrimp and grits and Palmetto Brewery beer.  Guests were able to indulge in their own personal taste when it came to dessert.  Being a lover of all sweets, Samantha had cupcakes by Cupcake Downsouth which were displayed on a large black tier surrounded by mason jars.  Everything really came together and made for a classic southern wedding.

Taylor and Brandon’s Intimate Charleston Wedding

When high school sweethearts Taylor and Brandon began planning there Spring wedding they had one thing in mind, intimacy.  The two were married in June at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens under a huge oak tree with the beautiful Ashley River in the background.  Coming from two large families Taylor and Brandon knew they wanted a small wedding that focused on the two of them, the vows they were taking, and the love that they share.  Without the stress of a large wedding, they concentrated on what was most important to them:  each other.  Being a sucker for lace and wanting an old southern wedding, Taylor wore a beautiful strapless lace gown which was accented with a beige ribbon across the middle.  Her best accessory:  her cowboy boots! When a light afternoon shower started Brandon held a white umbrella over his bride while they recited there vows and exchanged rings with one another.  The day could not have been more romantic and special.

Lori and Chris’ Elegant Boone Hall Wedding

Lori and Chris wanted a classic, elegant wedding that really highlighted vintage Boone Hall Plantation.  Everything from the cotton boutineers to the mason jars showed off a rustic yet sophisticated look that outlined the huge Oak Trees at the entrance to Boone Hall.  Wedding hair was by Carrie at Paper Dolls Wedding Hair & Make-Up.  Modern Trousseau helped Lori pick out her beautiful mermaid style gown.  Stephanie at Sweetgrass Events and Tiger Lily florist created a beautiful reception that used silvers, ivories, and pops of purple throughout.  Old photos of the bride and groom were displayed in old rustic frames and hung up to show off the bride and grooms personal style.  Lace and burlap were a staple as decorating pieces to pay respect to the South!  Many of the decorations were handcrafted by the mother of the bride.  Good Food Catering brought southern favorites for guests to dine on.  Entertainment by DJ Mateo Jones had guests dancing all night.  Cakes by Kasarda created a beautiful four tiered white cake that featured cascading purple flowers.  To end the evening the bride and groom were showered with lavender, cheers, and tears!

Chad & Holly’s Stunning and Romantic Boone Hall Plantation “Day After” Session

Many of you may remember Chad & Holly’s incredible wedding day story from October 2013. Chad was in a car accident the day of the wedding and fractured his L1 Vertebrae. But they were still able to say I Do that day. To read more of that story and view the wedding day images click here  https://richbell.com/for-better-or-worse-in-sickness-and-in-health-chad-hollys-incredible-wedding-day-2/

Well it was about five months after the wedding, and we were able to go out to Boone Hall Plantation for their wedding photos! It was an absolutely gorgeous day. Holly wore her dress again (and WOW, Mell Bell and I remembered immediately why we loved it, she looks amazing). Chad was able to wear the suit that he was unable to wear at their wedding. Chad is doing great! His back is still healing and he has gone back to work. They both are so in love and it shows in every photo how grateful that are that Chad survived the crash ON HIS WEDDING DAY and that their love has great even more through this!

It may sound cliche, but every day is truly a gift!
