Wedding photography makes men of the camera boys. You have to know it all: how to take pictures of men, women, children, babies, jewelry, clothing, flowers, food, architecture, and landscapes. Photojournalistic and fashion. Ambient light and flash. Photoshop. Photoshop. Photoshop. You have to bustle dresses, pin corsages, button cuff links, and sweet talk the church lady. And ya gotta look good while doin’ it.

Photography is in my blood. Richard, my dad, founded the studio back in the 80s. I kept it named after him. His vision has left a legacy here, and I owe him more than I can say for where we are today.

I’m married to the only woman I ever loved, Mell Bell. She’s an amazing photographer an a constant inspiration to me. I actually have a picture of the moment she fell in love with me, which is one of the reasons I really believe in photography. And I have LOTS of pictures of when we met our daughter Cassidy, who was born in 2011.

Another reason I believe in photography is because God believes in art. The first person ever said to be filled with the Spirit in the Bible was an artist (Exodus 31, if you’re interested). My main motivation in my art, my business, and my conduct is that it be a small (if blurry) image of Christ.
