Wedding and Reception at Johns Islands gem… The Island House

The Island House is a great location for a wedding because it has so much to offer. It’s on the water, has room to great ready, a couple of flower fields, even a salt flat! While we were hoping one of the fields of flowers would be in bloom, we got the corn field instead! I just love the photos we were able to take there. Whitney and Andrew were so adorable! Enjoy their preview!

Wedding at the beautiful Creek Club at I’on

Elena and Bryan met while attending the College of Charleston and they both love Charleston. After they were engaged they decided they wanted a destination wedding here. Creek Club at I’on was a wonderful choice for their intimate, beautifully decorated wedding. The weather even cooperated with rain started just after they said their vows and had walked back down the aisle. We were even able to get some gorgeous shots of the cloudy night sky!

Charleston Wedding Photography – Caroline and Preston’s Wedding at St. Michael’s Church and SC Society Hall

Caroline and Preston had a classic wedding celebration at St. Michael’s Church with their reception at SC Society. Caroline opted to have a special moment for her and dad, where he saw her in the wedding dress for the first time. Also, Preston surprised Caroline during their first dance with the destination for their honeymoon!

They danced the night away with not one but TWO bands throughout the evening. Congratulations you two!

Charleston Wedding Photography – Megan and Ryan at Summerall Chapel and the Creek Club at I’On

It was raining, and at times it was pouring. But the rain didn’t ruin the celebration of Megan and Ryan’s wedding at the Citadel. These two are so well matched and into each other that it was hard to stop taking photos of the two of them. I’m so thankful that they allowed me to play a part, and they were such good sports to go out at night in the rain to get one of my favorite photos of them on the dock at the Creek Club at I’On.

Last wedding of 2011: Dani and Joe at St. Luke’s Chapel and the Holiday Inn Mount Pleasant

Dani and Joe’s wedding was the best way to end our 2011 wedding year 🙂 It was a party!!! They had a special ring warming as part of the ceremony, which was such a sweet way to start their married lives together. And then, there was dancing, dancing, and more dancing! Followed by sparklers and mustaches. Yes, mustaches. Thank you again for letting me share in the celebration!

Charleston Wedding Photography -Julia and Andy’s Dual Engagement Session at Boone Hall Plantation and the beach

Julia and Andy have something about their relationship that is just too adorable for words, so here’s something that I think explains it way better than I ever could.
Can’t wait for your wedding next year!

Charleston Wedding Photography – Elizabeth and Steve’s Sunrise Wedding on Folly Beach

Elizabeth and Steve had a small, intimate wedding at sunrise on Folly Beach. Yes, I said SUNRISE. It was a laid back affair with family and close friends who were willing to travel and celebrate with them VERY early in the morning. Elizabeth and I hit it off immediately at their consultation with very similar senses of humor, and Steve was ready for anything the day had in store.

Also, I (Mell Bell) had my sweet husband Nathan as my second photographer for the first time ever! I hope you enjoy this collection of some of my favorite from their wedding day. You can check out their album design at: Elizabeth and Steve

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra

I was honored to receive a call from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, who commissioned us to create new group and individual portraits of their core ensembles.   Over two days of shooting, we got a great collection. Thank you so much to all of the musicians who came out to participate — was a joy to get to be involved in this small way in the great work that you do.

Maggie & Zeb: Summerall Chapel and The Citadel Beach House

This past Saturday, I had the honor and privilege of photographing the wedding of two very dear friends, Maggie & Zeb. We have all known each other since my family and I moved to Charleston when I was only 13 years old!!! Maggie and Zeb had an incredibly beautiful and fun wedding. I can’t say enough about how perfectly everything came together, so thank you to everyone who put so much hard work into making such a special day happen. 🙂

I had a hard time picking out “just” a few for this blog…so stay tuned for their album design to see all the rest!

I highly recommend the band Soul Fish, by the way! They were just amazing and everyone had SO much fun! They can really keep the party going!
(If you’ve never heard them play, you should…they play often at several different Wild Wings as well as Rooftop at Vendue and others!)
